I Want To Help Make the 2009
Homeless Count a Success
Every two years,
the Homeless Coalition conducts a homeless count in Hillsborough
County. This year’s count is on Thursday, February 26.
The biennial
homeless count helps us better understand our homeless neighbors -
how many people are experiencing homelessness, where they became
homeless, what services they need, the cause of their homelessness
and much more. This information is used to help the Coalition, in
partnership with the community, respond to the unmet needs and help
in implementing solutions to help our homeless neighbors get back on
their feet.
Ways YOU can help:
Volunteer to Help
Count –
An army of volunteers is needed to reach out to all corners of the
County to count our homeless neighbors. Volunteers are needed for
4-hour shifts between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Thursday, February 26.
Volunteers will be assigned to 3-person teams and given a specific
geographic area with identified locations to conduct the count.
Attendance at one training session is required.
